Park Sleep Fly at MCI: what actually matters here
Kansas City's new terminal opened in 2023. Airport-area hotels in Platte City and KCI Park offer free parking and shuttles. Good budget territory.
Getting around MCI
A single terminal opened in February 2023, replacing the previous multi-terminal layout: 40 gates, roughly 6,200 garage spaces and 48 shops and restaurants. Departures — airline check-in and the security checkpoint — are on the upper level; Arrivals and baggage claim on the lower level.
Where hotel shuttles pick up at MCI
Park in the Economy Lot, wait at the enclosed bus shelter nearest your car, and board any blue bus on the route — free, roughly every 20 minutes, 24/7 and wheelchair accessible. Blue buses load and unload at a marked central location on the commercial curb of the Arrivals (lower) level; take elevators or escalators up to Departures.
This is the detail most travelers get wrong. Confirm the pickup point with your hotel when you book — shuttle stops move during construction, and at several airports they are not at the arrivals curb at all.
Worth knowing at MCI: Valet drop-off is not curbside at MCI — from the Departures roadway you veer left into Valet Drive inside the parking garage, across from the check-in hall (8-foot clearance). On return you can call 816-243-2019 for your car while still taxiing to the gate.
