Getting around RDU
Two passenger terminals. Terminal 1 serves Alaska, Avelo, Breeze, Southwest and Sun Country; Terminal 2 serves American, Delta, United, JetBlue, Frontier plus Aer Lingus, Air Canada, Air France, Icelandair, Lufthansa, Copa, WestJet, Aeromexico and BermudAir. Avelo, Breeze and Southwest international flights arrive at T2 but all their departures leave from T1.
Where hotel shuttles pick up at RDU
Hotel shuttles drop off and pick up from the red zones outside the terminals. Each terminal's baggage claim has an Accommodations and Reservations touch-screen board you use to phone your hotel and tell them you have landed.
This is the detail most travelers get wrong. Confirm the pickup point with your hotel when you book — shuttle stops move during construction, and at several airports they are not at the arrivals curb at all.

Airport-area hotels near RDU are concentrated in Morrisville, Durham / Research Triangle Park, Cary, Brier Creek (Raleigh), Raleigh. Staying inside one of these clusters is usually what makes a free shuttle and included parking possible in the first place.
Worth knowing at RDU: RDU parking is fully cashless — travelers without a card convert cash to a prepaid card at ReadySTATION kiosks in both terminals and in the terminal garage exit plaza lobby at 1050 Cargo Drive. Once you pay, you have 30 minutes to exit.
