Getting around SMF
Two separate terminals, A and B, at 6900 Airport Boulevard. Garage 1 serves both via pedestrian bridges — 3rd floor to Terminal A, 5th floor to Terminal B — with 8'2" vertical clearance. Garage 2, adding about 5,500 spaces west of Terminal B, opens Fall 2026.
Where hotel shuttles pick up at SMF
Free shuttles run 24 hours at both terminals to the rental car facility, Daily Lot and Economy Lots. Daily Lot shuttles run every 15–20 minutes; Economy shuttles every 25–30 minutes, and SMF tells travelers to allow up to 60 minutes from parking to terminal. At Terminal B, shuttles use the east entrance of Level 1 baggage claim outside Doors 3 and 4.
This is the detail most travelers get wrong. Confirm the pickup point with your hotel when you book — shuttle stops move during construction, and at several airports they are not at the arrivals curb at all.
Worth knowing at SMF: SMF takes no parking reservations at all — every lot is first-come, first-served and can fill and close without notice, at which point drivers are redirected from Economy to the Daily Lot at the higher rate. Allow up to 60 minutes from Economy to the terminal.
